The one significant disappointment was that the Arby’s we’d carefully schemed to stop at along the way was closed, both on the way up Friday night and on the way back this afternoon. But on the way up we ended up at a nifty Greek pizzeria instead, where we were introduced to galaktoboúreko, and on the way down (after lots of wandering around to find a place open on Easter Sunday) we ended up at a pretty good Chinese restaurant. With country-and-western music playing. I suppose if you’re not going to play Beijing Opera, you might as well play Grand Ole Opry.
We had a marvellous time up at the sauna, and I especially enjoyed catching up with the man who owns it and getting to know his wife (whom he married since the last time I was up there). In Massachusetts, the ground is pretty clear, but it’s still snow-covered up in that part of Maine. It was a perfect temperature for the sauna and hot tub — cool enough that you appreciate the heat, but warm enough that going between the sauna building and the (adjacent outdoor) hot tub is perfectly comfortable. I did take a brief swim in the (heated but still cool) pool. I did not go so far this time as to roll around in the snow.
I almost never nap, but plumtreeblossom and I had a lovely nap Saturday afternoon. It was a good weekend for sleeping.
A marvellous weekend! I’m so glad I could share that delightful place with plumtreeblossom.
