Had a fabulous time at Arisia. It was wonderful spending the weekend with plumtreeblossom, and getting to see and catch up with eisa and so many other wonderful people I don’t get to see very often (and many that I do).

One of the highlights was hearing plumtreeblossom and surrealestate and a bunch of other folks perform an original radio drama live (complete with commercials). If I don’t post a link to the group shortly, remind me. (It’s on the CD I bought but haven’t unpacked yet.)

I am about to take off for Arisia. Judging by the content of my Friends list, I am supposed to warn you all that I will not be posting much or responding to email. However, (1) it is alleged that there will be wireless in the hotel where I am staying (not the Arisia hotel), (2) even if not, I have a cell phone with a keyboard, and (3) I am I, don beowabbit. If past experience is any indication, you will be hearing as much from me as ever. Management regrets the inconvenience.

I was almost done with my post and I accidentally hit Control-W (close window) rather than Control-E (move cursor to end of line) and lost it. *Grump*.

Anyway, the short version is that despite having a cold, I had a lovely lovely weekend with a lovely lovely cathijosephine at Arisia. I did a lot of sleeping and a lot of sitting in a warm bath with a good book and (once a lot of sleeping had my energy back up) had a wonderful time at a wonderful party with wonderful people. chillguru and bbbsg stayed in our room on Sunday night, which was great because I love any opportunity to spend time with them. I made some nifty purchases. I saw almost none of the programming.

I was really bummed to hear after dropping cathijosephine off at home on Monday that her guinea pig, Pigpigpig, had died. She has a much more accepting and realistic (in my opinion) attitude towards death than most people do, but still I know that was not a good thing to come home to. He was a cutie and I'll miss him.

Ended up having sushi with docorion and cathijosephine Monday night, which was a good opportunity to reconnect with docorion.

Had been planning on making use of my very early arrival at work today to get to the Diesel early, but my otherwise much improved cold has turned into a cough that registers 2 on the Richter scale and gives me the voice of a three-pack-a-day blues singer, and while I'm probably not very contagious, I'm scary, and anyway, my nice warm bed beckons. So now home to rest.

The original post was about four times this long and much wittier, by the way. Oh, and it contained an elegant and simple proof of Fermat's Last Theorem, but now I can't quite remember it.

Just got back (well, an hour or two ago; have been catching up on stuff) from Baitcon XVI. It was excellent and I had a good time, but I was also in a kind of down/weird mood, and ended up leaving early (which gets me the chance to have a day at home and catch my breath and run errands and stuff). I will probably do a fuller posting later, but for now the following observations spring to mind:

• I love driving, and I haven't gotten to do enough longish drives lately. (I particularly love driving in the fog, because it's so beautiful, although of course I wouldn't seek it out 'cause it's dangerous.)
  
• I miss Tigris and Tom terribly.
  
• Once you get the tent set up and get yourself and your wet stuff in, and you're no longer actually being rained on, rainfall on a tent is a very lovely sound.
  
• Habañero-amaretto ice cream is yummy, and dragon chocolate (chocolate-cayenne) ice cream is even better, but neither of them can hold a candle to ginger sorbet made with ginger beer.
  

And with that, it is time for me to collapse.
